I miss when the south had so much cool hip-hop. I think all the codeine did them in. Rumor has it there’s a Goodie Mob reunion in the works, or atleast one has been for 2 years. Goodie Mob ft. Outkast- Black Ice
they had me at ironic facial hair.
I know I’m a bit late on this one, I’m just stoked to see it happening. Die Antwoord in “Fok Julle Naaiers’”
I’ve heard a few people say that before but this exact one is from Gerald Celente, publisher of the Trends Journal, and generally a guy who tries to predict whats going to happen in the world. He is referring to direct democracy, of which he is a huge proponent. Voting online though? That sounds way more sketch than even Diebold voting machines. What if groups like Anonymous wanted to hack it? They said recently in a tweet that they could take down Facebook if they wanted to, but they had no plans to. Facebook?! Personally to me that sounds about as hard as stealing the White House, but I guess with enough people online knowing what they’re doing its possible.
So why would do we think the voting online would work? I agree, its the only way I can see currently that would allow the people who wanted to vote, to vote. If somehow the government also made the voting process extremely transparent, that would help. Maybe if I could track my vote and have some kind of confirmation it wasn’t being messed with. People won’t agree until they can trust it, that’s for sure.
I agree if we want the freedom to vote on everything, then there has to be a method. I can’t imagine the local fire hall being open 24/7 for voting. Social networking sites seem to be getting the hang of it. You can vote (+1, I think?)for good results on Google now. Facebook has ‘likes’ and objects appear in your news feed based on those likes, assuming you have it set to that. Some day government will catch up. Our State Representatives and Senators need to be stripped of the majority of their power and people need to start voting a whole lot more.
But then, like always, the question is raised whether or not we can trust Joe Schmoe to vote intelligently. If we made voting as easy as logging in to Facebook, maybe people wouldn’t take it nearly as serious. I can imagine plenty of people misusing the power. That’s why I think the General Assembly/Town Hall idea is so important. I understand most people wouldn’t be too excited with the idea. I like some sort of localized, online voting with emphasis on the town hall meetings. Personally most people I know, especially working adults, don’t do anything in the evenings besides watch television anyways. Why not try to fix all the crap we complain about instead of perpetuating it?
